Welcome to Seeff Aberdeen

Aberdeen is situated in the Karoo Heartland region of the Western Cape on the N9 between Graaff Reinet and the Garden Route in the Great Karoo. It offers a healthy climate and fabulous, laid-back Karoo country lifestyle with clean air, tranquillity and no stress.
The town has a wonderful history with a treasure of architectural delights with Victorian Ostrich Baron Palaces side by side with sturdy Karoo houses and more modern 20th century homes. Influences include Georgian, Gothic, Russian, and Flemish styles.

The district is renowned for its wool and mohair and is the largest mohair producing area in the country. Karoo lamb is famous throughout South Africa for the distinctive taste of the meat, attributed to the unique Karoo grazing. Most of the farms have been in the same family for many generations, and a variety of sheep, goats, ostriches and cattle somehow manage to thrive in this arid semi-desert.

There are many attractions in the area including the Camdeboo National Park, midway to Graaff-Reinet which is a National Monument of geological and scenic importance. If offers 20 000 hectares of gorgeous foothills of the Sneeuberg that includes a section of low lying plains and the famed dolerites that are formed from jointed pillars. This part of the park is known as the Valley of Desolation - a process of soil erosion has left these dolerite pillars that stand as high as 120 metres. The Karoo is a semi desert natural region of the Western Cape, world-renowned for its stunning scenic beauty and attracts visitors from all over the world. It is distinctively divided into the Great Karoo and the Klein Karoo (Little Karoo) by the Swartberg Mountain Range, which runs east-west, parallel to the southern coastline, but is separated from the sea by another east-west range called the Outeniqua-Langeberg Mountains. The Great Karoo lies to the north of the Swartberg range; the Little Karoo is to the south of it. The Karoo is popular for its stunning landscapes, nature reserves and wide range of leisure pursuits including hiking, cycling and more.

Aberdeen is seeing many newcomers, some moving here from the big cities and is a popular choice for retirement. The town offers very reasonable property prices which has enabled many newer residents to be able to repair and restore their homes to their former glory. The town offers a wide range of properties, from vacant stands and family homes to commercial properties.
