Welcome to Seeff Pennington
Pennington is part of the Umdoni coast of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
Pennington is a quaint resort and includes the pleasant seaside villages of Kelso, Sezela and Bazley Beach. This beautiful area offers something a little different. Quiet pristine beaches, magnificent bays and safe tidal pools make Pennington a truly idyllic destination perfect for unwinding and relaxing. There are also numerous attractions to keep active minds at bay. Pennington is home to the Botha House built by General Louis Botha for his wife, Annie, on land found for him by Sir Frank Reynolds. Sir Frank Reynolds was a sugar entrepreneur and a member of the Colony's Legislative Council.
A bit of exploration in Pennington will reveal delights like golfing at the Umdoni Golf Course and Selborne Park course where a round of golf comes complete with game and bird watching, as well as superlative views of the shimmering ocean and indigenous forest. Interestingly, Umdoni Park was established by Sir Frank to preserve the indigenous fauna and flora. He presented it to the South African nation in 1920 and the Umdoni Trust was formed. The park also offers wonderful walking trails and the Komba Bird Sanctuary and Nkumbane Dam. Also, take a stroll through the local Indigenous Nursery to see the stunning plants and birds native to South Africa.
Pennington's warm waters boast a rich blend of fish species. Because of this aspect, it has given rise to a large sport fishing community. This beautiful area offers a large number of trophy barricuda, garrick, sharks and salmon. The annual 'Couta Classic' is held annually in Pennington over the Easter weekend and attracts hundreds of fisherman from all over the country to participate in one of the largest fishing competitions in Kwazulu Natal. Besides the excellent bass and deep sea fishing on offer, Rock and surf fishing is very popular, with catches such as shad, sharks and rays, grunter, kingfish and pompono.
If fishing or golf doesn't grab your interest, Pennington offers an enticing array of other activities like snorkelling, scuba diving, horse riding on the beach and bird watching and is also home to the Village Mall with convenience stores, estate agents and restaurants. Pennington's fauna and flora are captured through a number of activities that make the most of the beautiful sights and sounds of this captivating place.
