Stories and food converge at Joe's Beerhouse in Windhoek

There is no better way to enjoy the time than at Joe's Beerhouse, one of the most well-known bars and restaurants in the heart of Windhoek, Namibia's capital city. Since its start in 1991, this amazing venue has captivated residents' and travellers' hearts and taste buds because of the passion and wanderlust of German-born chef Joachim Gross, commonly known as Joe.

Joe, a chef with extensive knowledge gained through employment and travel, set off for Namibia in 1986. As soon as he stepped foot in Namibia, he felt at home. His passion for exploration, storytelling, and culinary exploration found their ideal place in this fresh environment. Joe's Beerhouse, which began as a small beer garden in October 1991, quickly gained popularity among residents and visitors.

You'll be treated to a lovely ambience

Joe's Beerhouse is unlike any other restaurant due to the unique ambience he has created with numerous items he has collected on his travels. Every décor item at the Beerhouse has a story to tell and contributes to the establishment's ambience.

Because of elements like the interwoven kudu horns, the peculiar mini on top, Joe's Twak Truck, and the gigantic cow horns, visitors are plunged into a world of inquiry and surprise. Jägermeister bottles cover the shelves, and the space is ornamented with rusting milk jugs, fuel pumps, lamps, bottle caps, and anchors. It's the type of stuff that you have to see to believe.

Although Joe has now retired, Thomas and Carol-Jean Rechter have kept Joe's Beerhouse running in its former splendour. Joe's Beerhouse has been in good hands since 2012 when a new management team took over and elevated it to new heights while staying loyal to the business's initial objective.

The best cuisine in town

When you go to Joe's Beerhouse, you'll feel like you've stepped into the beating core of a vibrant area. Joe's Beerhouse has excellent meals and a welcoming atmosphere. Your taste buds are in for a real treat with options including Baked Garlic Oysters, Plain Garlic Snails, and Cheesy Garlic Snails. Eisbein and Joe's Bratwurst are two examples of classic Namibian fare.

There are vegetarian options, burgers, pizzas, and delicious steaks like Game Fillet and Kudu Loin Steak. Try tasty treats like Lion's Paw Chocolate Brownie and Homemade Malva Pudding. You can quench your thirst with drinks, wines, and alcohol that are refreshing. The delicious food and friendly service make for a fantastic meal at Joe's Beerhouse.

Joe's dishes are a testament to Namibia's rich culinary legacy, presenting a wonderful blend of flavours highlighting the country's many cultural influences. Joe's Beerhouse is where memories are imprinted into the hearts of all who attend, in addition to the beautiful flavours and colourful environment. Laughter fills the air, friendships are formed, and beautiful memories are made.
