In 1936, the Afrikaanse Taal en Kultuurvereniging (ATKV), known as the Afrikaans Language and Cultural Society, acquired the farm for 7000 pounds. They divided the land into 670 individual lots sold at approximately 60 pounds each.
Initially, the resort grew steadily, with ongoing expansions over the years. However, it was stipulated that sure lots could only be rented out permanently, with a strict condition that no permanent brick structures were allowed on those plots.
