Mondeor was known as the Jewel of the South. It is set amongst rolling hills away from the sight and sound of the city, yet only fifteen minutes drive from the city centre of Johannesburg.
History
The suburb is situated on part of an old farm of Witwatersrand called Ormonde. It was established on 19 May 1958, and its name is possibly an anagram of the old farms name. Mondeor is interesting for its geological point of view.
