A brief history of the area
Midrand was declared a municipality in 1981. It was known as a "Halfway House" because of its location between Pretoria and Johannesburg. However, this status fell away in 1994 and Midrand is now part of the region of Johannesburg.

Midrand is approximately 30-35 minutes (22,1 km) away give or take traffic via the M39 and Zuurfontein Road. Johannesburg's CBD is 42 minutes (29,7 km) away.
Climate
The weather in Midrand is fairly moderate, with the climate being on the drier side. Expect summer temperatures ranging from 18 °C-31 °C. Winter sees the area experiencing chilly temperatures of 7°C-20 °C. Locals enjoy gardening, walking their pets, frequenting parks and exercising outdoors.

Parents can take comfort in the variety of good quality schools in the area.
