Queensburgh, with its affordable properties, has become a popular choice with those wishing to find their next home or investment in the greater Durban area. Its central location offers easy access to neighbouring areas such as Pinetown, Chatsworth and Central Durban. A brief history of the area
In its early days, the area that we now know as Queensburgh was four separate residential suburbs - Escombe, Malvern, Moseley and Northdene. These communities had been created as a result of people wanting to escape the humidity associated with life on the coast. In 1924, these four areas put their resources together to form one town, which was named Malvern. Later, when Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne in 1952, Malvern was renamed Queensburgh in her honour.
Climate
With its close proximity to Durban, Queensburgh is known as being one of the pleasantest possible places to be during the winter months. With an average minimum temperature of 10°C in June and July, climbing to a maximum of 22°C, there can be few better places to be. January to March is the hottest season, and it's not uncommon to experience temperatures in the low to mid-30s at this time of the year. Queensburgh experiences most of its rainfall in the summer months.

Queensburgh has a range of primary schools and high schools, making the area a popular choice for families. Primary schools in the area include Northdene Preparatory School, Parkside Primary School, Queensburgh Primary School, Malvern Primary School and Escombe Primary School. High schools in and around Queensburgh include Queensburgh High School and Queensburgh Girls' High School.
Healthcare in the area
Hospitals in close proximity to Queensburgh include Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital and Isipingo Hospital. A variety of doctors, dentists, opticians and other medical professionals have practices in the area. Medicross Malvern is a great place to go if you are in need of medical assistance.
Shopping centres
Getting the shopping done is no problem for residents of Queensburgh. A visit to Queensburgh Mall, which has recently been refurbished, gives shoppers the opportunity to visit a wide variety of retailers, including supermarkets, liquor stores, health and beauty shops and banks. One can also buy electronics and homewares or enjoy a meal. Other shopping centres in close proximity include Malvern Centre and The Ridge @ Shallcross.
Distance from key points (Airport/CBD)
The distance from Queensburgh to King Shaka International Airport is approximately 42km. This will take you roughly half an hour to get there in average traffic. Durban's CBD is roughly 18km (21 minutes) away.

Queensburgh offers a multitude of options for a family night out, with restaurants like Spur, Atasca, Mugg & Bean and John Dory's being easy to find in the area. A wide variety of fast food options are also available.
