Interesting facts about the history of Fourways

Fourways derived its name from the four-way stop at the intersection of William Nicol and Witkoppen roads.  Fourways was established on what was originally a watermelon farm owned by the Van Der Walt family.  They sold a portion of this farm to the Eriksons in the 1940s, on which the Eriksons built their home Fourways Manor, now known as Norscot Manor, a heritage site in the neighbouring suburb of Norscot.  As a result of other suburbs being established in later years on the original farm, suburbs next to Fourways are often thought of as part of the Fourways area.
