The original Scottish Morningside was originally just a few thatched cottages and a blacksmith's forge and first appeared in the Plan of the City of Edinburgh and Adjacent Grounds in 1759.
The Morningside suburb in Johannesburg was established in early 1950 and is part of the old Witwatersrand farm called Zandfontein.
