Woodmead at a glance

About the suburb of Woodmead

Woodmead residential properties are predominantly cluster homes or houses in estates offering safety and security. The Sandton Country Club Estate is one example; residents of these glamorous homes access the tennis courts and clubhouse of the estate. Suburban homes are tucked away in quiet, often boomed-off sections of the suburb, and you'd be hard-pressed to guess it was a bustling commercial suburb.

There are just over 250 apartments (sectional title property) in Woodmead, but almost 600 freehold homes.

Neighbouring the commercial area of Rivonia, with Sunninghill on the northern side of the Western Bypass, Woodmead is essentially a commercial area. There is easy access to the N1 for a commute to Johannesburg, Midrand, or Pretoria, with the N3 and M1 close by.

Have a family picnic amidst the trees and sample the foods purchased at the market.

  1. Rietfontein Nature Reserve, Paulshof - There is a 2,5km walk through the 25-hectare reserve, where the FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is based. FreeMe endeavours to return injured birds to the wild once they have healed.  Bird watchers will enjoy the multiple species of birds that inhabit the reserve.
