The biggest demand in Lydenburg is from people who already live in the town and from people in the mining industry who have been transferred to Lydenburg from other areas, many of whom are renting.
Lydenburg offers a vast array of property choices and buyers have many up-scaling or down-scaling options. Both homes and sectional title are in demand, but the most popular property type and price range consist of homes with gardens at around R1.2 million to R1.5 million.
In Dullstroom demand usually comes from people who live in Johannesburg or Pretoria who want a weekend breakaway spot or holiday home. Many who invest here are cash buyers. The area has many estates and they are extremely sought after by discerning buyers. Property in these estates costs upward of R3 million. Dullstoom and Lydenburg are made up almost entirely of freehold property, but both areas have sectional title schemes here and there as well.
The Sterkspuit and Dorps river, with the Steenkamps- and Mauchsberg mountains surround our historical town, situated at the summit of the Longtom Pass. The same pass that the settlers used for their transport to Delagoa Bay (Mozambic), and where the Boers fight the British. This is also where the Longtom Canon has its resting.
