A Day of Giving and Loving: How We Supported Abba's House in Loerie for Mandela Day 2023

On July 18, 2023, we celebrated Mandela Day by visiting Abba's House in Loerie, a baby safe haven that provides temporary shelter and care for abandoned or orphaned children aged 0-3 years old. We were moved by the wonderful work that they do and decided to donate some much-needed items to help them continue their mission.

We collected donations of toys, clothes, diapers, formula, and other essentials from our generous community and delivered them to Abba's House. We also spent some time with the babies and the staff, playing games, singing songs, and sharing stories. We witnessed the love and joy that filled the place and felt honoured to be part of it.

Abba's House was founded by Kristin Freudenthal, a missionary from the US who felt called to serve in South Africa. She is the managing director of the safe haven and works with a team of local volunteers and caregivers.

Abba's House is not only a place of refuge, but also a place of hope. The staff strives to provide the best possible care for the children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They also work with local authorities and social workers to find suitable adoptive or foster families for the children. Abba's House believes that every child deserves a loving home and a bright future.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support Abba's House in Loerie and to make a difference in the lives of these precious children. We encourage everyone to learn more about their work and to get involved in any way they can.

We thank Abba's House for welcoming us and for inspiring us with their dedication and compassion. We hope that our donation will help them continue their amazing work and that our visit will bring them some joy and comfort. We look forward to visiting them again soon and seeing how they grow and thrive.
