Seeff has opened a brand new branch in Lydenburg that will also cover property sales in the weekend breakaway town of Dullstroom. Anna-marie de Jager, the Managing Director of this branch, says that she has always had a keen interest in property and working in the financial department of a real estate agency a couple of years ago only fuelled this interest. “I decided to take the leap and started my career by becoming an agent at a small agency wherafter I joined bigger agencies. After completing all of the necessary exams, I decided to buy the Seeff license in Lydenburg.” De Jager continues that the branch has already concluded a sale of a family home in the more established area of Lydenburg for R1 240 million and they are currently in the process of finalising four more transactions. De Jager says the biggest demand in Lydenburg is from people who already live in the town. “There is also a demand from people in the mining industry who have been transferred to Lydenburg from other areas, but many of them are renting. In Dullstroon the demand is usually from people who live in Johannesburg or Pretoria who want a weekend breakaway spot or holiday home. Many people who invest here are cash buyers. The area has many estates and they are extremely sought after by discerning buyers. Property in these estates cost upward of R3 million”. De Jager says that their branch also does rentals and that the rental market here is performing well.
