A recent report by CNN Travel hailed Cape Town as “one of the world’s most beautiful cities”. The article summarised CNN’s top 30 things to do in the Mother City and reported that despite recent water shortages, Cape Town is “still one of the planet’s most extraordinary destinations.”
The popular travel guide attributes Cape Town’s beauty to the abundance of mountain and sea views in the region. It also acknowledges the fickle weather but explains that it adds to the variety of things to do in the Mother City.
“If it’s too cloudy to hike on the mountain, then there's art galleries, wineries and beaches. Swim with a penguin, burrow deep into the city's history, or just walk along cobblestone streets and take it all in,” reads the article.
CNN top 10 things to do in Cape Town
Although the full article outlines 30 activities to do when visiting the region, CNN’s top 10 things to do include a trip up Table Mountain (obviously), a visit to Simon’s Town and the Boulder’s Beach penguins, and spending a day in Kalk Bay.
Speaking of Kalk Bay, it was recently announced as one the top 12 coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Forbes. It sits on the same list as Navy Yard in Washington D.C., Amsterdam Noord, Maboneng in Johannesburg and Keramikos in Athens.
CNN also recommends the District Six Museum, Robben Island, the Slave Lodge, and The Old Biscuit Mill among the first 10 listed activities in its report. Even though 30 activities, experiences and places of interest were mentioned, there is still a plethora of other amazing things to do in Cape Town.
