The Constantia Wine Route is well known for its exceptional wines and eateries. Here are three of the very best estates on the route.

Groot Constantia

Groot Constantia, founded in 1685, is the oldest wine farm in South Africa and arguably the most famous.

The estate has three wine-tasting venues where you are able to sample an array of their superb, award-winning wines.

Other activities on offer at this historic estate include picnicking on the lawns, enjoying world-class cuisine, exploring the original Cape Dutch Manor House and famed Cloete Cellar, visiting the wine and cultural history museum, experiencing chocolate and wine pairings and going on one of the two free audio walking tours of the vineyards and modern cellar.

The estate is open 7 days a week from 9am - 6pm.

Klein Constantia Estate

Klein Constantia is an iconic wine estate and one of the most beautiful in the world. It has produced some of the country's top wines and is home to popular restaurant, The Bistro, which serves exceptional South African and European cuisine.

Their tasting room is open 7 days a week from 10am and the tasting fee for all Estate wines is R80.

Beau Constantia

Beau Constantia is a boutique wine farm that offers superb wine tastings without the expense of the more famous estates on the route.

The estate is home to South Africa’s 4th best restaurant, Chef’s Warehouse, which offers unparalleled views of the winelands and sensational gourmet cuisine.

They are open for wine tasting Tuesday to Sunday from 11h00 – 18h00.
