Naturally disinfect your home

With cold and flu season here it’s important to disinfect your home and keep you and your family healthy and germ-free. Skip the toxic and harmful chemicals and try out these natural cleaners around your home this winter.

Vodka

Vodka can be used as a disinfectant. It also removes mold, mildew and stains.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is the perfect thing to use for cleaning toilets.

Olive or vegetable oil

Both types of cooking oil are great for cleaning wood furniture.

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide can be used as an antiseptic as it kills bacteria. It also removes mold and stains and can be used to bleach clothing and surfaces.

White vinegar

White vinegar is made from acetic acid and water and is a powerful cleaner that will easily remove grease, mildew, stains and get rid of odours. You can even mix vinegar and water together to create fabric softener.

Baking soda and lemon

This is the perfect combination to kill germs. Simply dip half a lemon in baking soda and scrub your counter tops and sink. Baking soda also removes odours.

Sea salt

Mixed with lemon juice, sea salt is great for cleaning stained coffee or tea mugs.

You can also get creative and make your own natural air fresheners by using lemons, oranges, rosemary, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, thyme and lavender.
